About Webinars

In this virtual classroom, participants can join in a seminar led by Poynter faculty and visiting faculty. This screencast includes live audio and a slideshow presentation in which participants can post questions and respond to poll questions posed by the host.

How do you separate your coverage from digital noise in the 2016 campaign? From simple social tools (think Twitter) to big, interactive stories, we will show you how to engage audiences and help them make sense of the campaign. And you'll learn how to bring your audience along with you on a story and engage them on various platforms.

As a bonus, you'll see what NPR has learned from experimenting with new techniques and how you can put those lessons to work for you.

What Will I Learn:
  • How to tell a story first with social media
  • How to leverage Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat to engage audiences with political reporting
  • How to use audio to illustrate key moments – how not to overuse it
  • How to use web tools to bring in field reporting
  • How to tell deep, engaging stories online that resonate and inform
Who Should Take this Course:

Anyone who wants to know better and do better on digital -- whether it's by upping your personal Twitter presence and brand, building an audience on Facebook or getting more eyes on web stories.
