About Webinars

In this virtual classroom, participants can join in a seminar led by Poynter faculty and visiting faculty. This screencast includes live audio and a slideshow presentation in which participants can post questions and respond to poll questions posed by the host.

We're all spending more time writing emails, searching for emails, or worrying about emails. Think about what you'd rather accomplish.

Email is one of the most efficient tools for sharing everything from ideas to final reports with employees, colleagues, and clients. But it’s a complicated medium. Fortune 500 companies and newsrooms share the same challenges. Everyone has to keep track of incoming messages and prioritize them. Meanwhile, outgoing messages have to be crafted within the context of your organization’s unique culture.

Determining what type of messages should be emailed, how to strike the right tone, and figuring out whom to email can drain valuable time and energy. In this lighthearted but effective Webinar, you'll learn how to read, understand and respond to email without getting buried by your inbox.

Joshua Brockman

Joshua Brockman is an accomplished writer and multimedia journalist whose stories on business, technology, and the arts have been published by NPR, The New York Times, and Smithsonian, among many other national publications and broadcast outlets. Brockman serves as a Wharton MBA Writing Coach for the Wharton Communication Program at the University of Pennsylvania. He’s a graduate of Amherst College and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
