Sherrye Dee Garrett


Sherrye Dee Garrett, Ed.D., teachers courses at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi on reading disabilities, adolescent literacy and content reading.

In addition to teaching courses for undergraduate and graduate students, she also directs the BEST Program, which provides opportunities for K-12 students in the Coastal Bend to receive assessment and tutoring at the university. She has also directed the annual TAMUCC Reading Conference since 2005. Her doctoral degree is from Lehigh University, her master's degree is from Millersville State University, and her bachelor's degree is from Dickinson College

Garrett has also served on the faculties of Millersville State University and Elizabethtown College. Before coming to TAMUCC in 2000, she was the educational services manager for a small newspaper group. She has served on state and national committees in the newspaper industry, and she has created a number of publications on media literacy and the use of newspapers across the curriculum. In addition, she has presented teacher workshops on media literacy and newspapers across the country.
