Almost anyone who publishes online has a love/hate relationship with fair use. On one hand, fair use lets you legally re-purpose existing copyrighted material. On the other hand, you want to prevent others from stealing your content and republishing it illegally.

And because social media has changed the way we publish and give value to our work, people are cautious about what they publish online. In this Webinar, you'll learn how you can legally promote and build upon the existing work of others to develop innovative ideas and how copyright protects your work from being used illegally.

This Webinar is part of a two-day back-to-back Webinar package, which also includes Preventing Plagiarism and Fabrication in Newsrooms. You can sign up for each individual Webinar for $29.95 or enroll in both for $49.95. For more information on special package pricing or to register for both Webinars, click on our Copyright and Plagiarism Back-to-Back Webinar Special here.

What Will I Learn:
  • How to apply the principles of copyright and fair use to your daily life in social media
  • What content created by others is legal for you to use
  • How to use copyright as a publishing tool, rather than a reason to not use others’ content
  • How to build upon the existing work of others
  • The varying opinions of fair use by publishers and those in the legal community
Who Should Take this Course:

Anyone who posts content on social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook and Pinterest, as well as online, print and broadcast publishers, editors, bloggers and educators.
