About Certificate Programs

Certificates of proficiency are designed to measure your knowledge of essential skills or information. To receive a certificate, take the NewsU courses associated with that certificate program and then successfully complete the online assessment for each course. Once you've passed all the assessments, you will receive your certificate from Poynter's NewsU.

The Poynter NewsU / Journal "Digital Production Certificate" shows that you have a demonstrated knowledge of innovation and social media in the newsroom, from understanding the role of social media and analytics in digital publishing. This certificate of proficiency is given to participants who have an understanding of the essential skills and best practices taught in the two training modules.

Complete each of the courses in this certificate program, then take the assessment for each one. Questions will cover content from each course. You'll have three chances to pass each assessment. When you pass all the assessments, you will be able to print out your certificate.

Unlike traditional quizzes and activities from Poynter's NewsU, these assessments won't tell you the answers, so make sure you study hard before taking the tests.

Here's how this works: You have to be enrolled in the certificate program in order to earn your certificate. If you enroll in each course individually, you will not have access to the certificate. You can enroll in the certificate program by clicking the blue "Enroll Now" button on the right. And if you have any questions, you can always contact us at info@newsu.org.
